AIM for Success Preschool

Summer, Fall, and Spring Sessions

Who would benefit from Aim for Success Preschool?

  • Children having difficulty transitioning into “typical” preschools
  • Children who need extra support from a speech-language pathologist or occupational therapist
  • Children who are nonverbal or have communication difficulties
  • Children who are unable to attend other preschools due to physical or health related barriers

Activities that will be offered:

Greeting and Free-play - goals include social skills, greeting peers, and turn-taking

Group Interaction – goals include identifying self and others, turn-taking, pre-academic skills, using descriptions, and labeling items

OT time – movement activities to improve attention and coordination to prepare for fine-motor, pre-writing, self-help, and play skills

Snack – goals include counting, one to one correspondence, turn-taking, requesting, and any individual oral motor/feeding goals

Language/Learning Center – individual goals will be addressed during small group time, such as expanding expressive speech, vocabulary, and play skills

Art/Cooking – goals will include identifying items, requesting, counting, sequencing, turn-taking, and increasing vocabulary

Clean up and Goodbye Song – children will work on transitioning skills, organization skills, and goodbyes

Additional Goals addressed at Aim for Success Preschool include:

  • Each child’s individual speech-language or occupational therapy goals
  • Individual sensory strategies to support the child’s ability to participate in structured group activities
  • Expanding play skills
  • Increased vocabulary use and comprehension
  • Knowledge of days of the week, counting skills, and number recognition
  • Transitioning to new settings, people, and activities
  • Potty Training (if necessary)
  • Increased independence with dressing skills
  • Improved readiness for handwriting by copying basic lines and shapes
  • Improving classroom readiness by having responsibilities, such as putting toys away, cleaning off tables and turning off the lights
