Adaptive Response Training

Adaptive Response Training is an individualized program to assist children in generalizing skills learned in Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Therapy to other environments.

Some children have difficulty successfully accessing and sharing the knowledge that they have learned. They often respond with inappropriate behaviors which interfere with their ability to be successful in various environments.

A child may have:

  • Difficulty following directions
  • Difficulty learning in a group setting
  • A need for one on one instruction to attend and learn
  • Difficulty learning because of self-stimulation behaviors
  • Difficulty completing tasks because of self-stimulation behaviors
  • Difficulty demonstrating what he/she knows because of behaviors
  • Difficulty demonstrating what he/she knows with different people and in different places
  • Difficulty using learned skills outside of the therapy sessions
  • Difficulty with academic or pre-academic skills

This program offers an environment where a child can become successful and confident while managing behaviors therefore preparing them for entrance into a regular school setting.
