A study and organizational skills group that will give students the confidence they need to pass tests and keep themselves organized.

Topics covered will include:

1. Organizing yourself

• study area
• school supplies
• time management
• grades
• projects

2. Reading to understand

• paraphrasing
• identifying
• signals in a reading selection
• learning new vocabulary

3. Sweeps Strategy

4. Memorization strategies

• memory techniques (acrostics, acronyms, charting, visualization, association, linking information and rehearsal)

5. Test-taking strategies

• reading directions carefully
• taking objective tests
• taking matching tests
• true/false tests
• fill-in tests
• multiple choice tests
• essay tests

Sessions includes a folder with sample charts and tips for parents.
